When designing the Open Perspectives Forum, we knew from the very beginning that the members of the community would have an active role in its structure. Both in terms of proposing presentations and determining which presentations will be shared during the forum. Below are the details for submitting proposals and the community voting process.

We would like to invite you to play an active role in the forum by submitting an idea for a session. If you are interested in presenting during the virtual conference, we encourage you to submit topics around the following areas of interest until September 29th.

The universal theme of the event is openness, but to simplify the proposal submission process, and to make the event more diverse and engaging, we are asking members of the community to share their initiatives and thoughts related to the following subtopics:

• Open Perspectives: the future of open, as openness creates possibilities, raises challenges and opportunities, we are looking for insights regarding where the library world is heading in the context of ‘open’
• Open Access, is only impactful if it is trustworthy and can be found. That is why curation, search, linking technologies and user experience is key. Has your library implemented any initiatives that support Open Access publishing or supports the discoverability of open access research?
• Open Source, the library community has a rich history of supporting open source projects. What are your perspectives on open source - both opportunities and challenges.
• Open Infrastructure, within an open infrastructure, interoperability is key. Through interoperable platforms, libraries can choose and provide the best possible services for their users. How do we deliver optimal interoperability of the platforms and services that serve our libraries and their users?

The conference will be conducted in English. Submissions should be sent via the form and must include an abstract of no more than 1000 characters in length. Presentations can be made by an individual or by a group. The submission form should indicate the affiliation of all presentations and the appropriate contact person. Students and librarians are encouraged to submit topics for consideration. Presentations will be 20 minutes and will include 5 minutes for Q&A from the audience.

After the conference, we will publish the conference proceedings, which will be available on the EBSCO Community and EBSCO websites. The proceeding may thereby be freely distributed.

SELECTION PROCESS: 

Selection will be by the conference program organizers, which will evaluate the applications in terms of originality, relevance to the theme of the event, quality of the submitted abstract, and meeting the formal requirements.
